Giclee? (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. The attainable excellence that Giclee? printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original artwork. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee? by galleries, museums, and private collectors.
Over the years, Montreal-born painter Cerj Lalonde has explored a wide range of subjects rather than one major theme. To unify these subjects, he has developed a global system of representation which he calls Representatio Universalis. This approach divides his output into three sections: politics, identity, and science. Each section is subdivided into subcategories, integrating all of his work into a cohesive whole.
The artist?s other concerns are the historical transformations and discoveries that have affected the process of perceiving and making art during the twentieth century. He embraces cubism, the Dadaist and surrealist ideas of Marcel Duchamp, and conceptual art, probing diverse mediums and philosophical orientations.
